The scenery impressed more than the elevator
A self-described city traveler found Yuanjiajie's scenery far more impressive in person than in photos. On their September 2025 visit, fog lifted later; Bailong's ride felt overrated to them even though they had short waits. Read the original Reddit post.
Fog hid Tianmen; the stream offered a different view
Another visitor was disappointed when fog hid Tianmen Mountain throughout their visit. In the national park, some upper views began to feel repetitive, but Golden Whip Stream stood out for the different perspective of looking up at the rocks. Read the original Reddit post.

The cliffside paths were part of the appeal

Tianmen and Wulingyuan offer different landscapes
Tianmen is the city-side mountain with a natural cave, summit forest and cliffside paths; Wulingyuan is the separate sandstone-pillar landscape. Our take: compare the experiences on their own merits, not as interchangeable names.

Judge Bailong as access as well as an attraction
