Choose the Mountain Resort for the landscape as well as the palace
We see the Mountain Resort as a landscape choice, not just a palace interior: lakes, gardens, open ground and wooded hills are part of its character. Decide which of those elements appeals to you rather than treating every corner as compulsory.

Give the outlying temples their own architectural focus
Our reason to consider Putuo Zongcheng and Xumi Fushou is their monumental combination of Han and Tibetan architectural traditions. They offer a different focus from the Mountain Resort’s gardens, rather than simply adding more palace scenery.
